They do not diagnose your pet or replace veterinary care.

We are not your vet

The Shedding Season Plan and its printables address coat care. Other pages and tools cover topics such as household care, enrichment and possible food exposures. None examines your pet or provides an individual veterinary assessment. Follow the scope and limitations shown with each resource.

Coat changes can be ordinary seasonal shedding. They can also be a sign of thyroid disease, parasites, allergies, a skin infection, poor nutrition, pain, or stress. Telling those apart needs someone with their hands on the animal.

If your dog has bare skin, redness, scabs, sores, symmetrical bald patches, a coat that does not grow back, or if they seem unwell in any way, speak to a vet. Do not wait to see whether a grooming schedule fixes it. Part Six of the Plan exists to help you describe what you are seeing to your vet, not to replace the appointment.

Results depend on your dog

We do not promise that a schedule will stop your dog shedding. Shedding is a normal, healthy process and nothing on this site will end it. What good technique does is get dead coat into your hand instead of onto your sofa, and get it out sooner.

How much difference you see depends on the breed, the coat, the season, the individual animal, your climate, and how consistently you actually do it. Results vary between pets and households.

Tools can hurt an animal if used badly

Undercoat rakes, deshedding tools, slickers and scissors all have edges or points. Used on the wrong coat type, at the wrong angle, or with too much pressure, they can scratch skin, break the topcoat, or cause a brush burn.

Read the technique section before you use a new tool, not after.

Never use an undercoat rake on a single-coated or curly-coated dog.

Stop if the skin reddens, if your dog flinches, or if the tool catches.

Keep every grooming tool away from children.

You are responsible for your own dog’s safety while grooming them.

Sources

Where our material draws on published veterinary or breed-body guidance, we name the source inside the document. The American Kennel Club and VCA Animal Hospitals are both cited in the Plan. Naming them is not a claim that they endorse us, reviewed our material, or are associated with us in any way. They are not.

No professional relationship

Reading this site, buying a product, or emailing us does not create a veterinary, medical, or professional relationship of any kind. We cannot advise on a specific animal’s health, and we will tell you to see a vet if you ask us to.

Products and availability

Product pages describe available specifications, intended uses and known limits. Manufacturing runs vary slightly. Colours on a screen are not exact. Where a specification matters to you, email us before ordering and we will check the current stock rather than guess.

Links to other sites

Where we link out, it is because we think the page is useful. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for what they publish or how they handle your data.

Limits

We publish this material in good faith and we work hard to get it right. We do not accept liability for loss or harm arising from how it is applied to a particular animal, because we are not there to see the animal. Nothing here removes any statutory right you have where you live.

Questions

Email support@pawpampering.com. A person answers.

Paw Pampering is operated by Leads and Traffic, LLC, 30 N Gould St STE-66913, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Our articles, guides and tools provide general pet-care information.
